A Reply on Reddit I made

I normally wouldn’t post this kind of thing, but I felt this was worth the effort. For context, I was replying to a discussion that used the overused “biological male” excuse for why transgender women shouldn’t be allowed to compete with cisgender women.

“Sex traits can be biologically based. That’s a medical term. But there is no such thing as a “biological male/female”. You are right, that is rooted in bigotry. This is easy to prove. Prior to transition (M2F) my chest exhibited male traits. That is because the biology supporting muscle development as well as dormant breast tissue caused it to be so. With the introduction of HRT, my male trait muscles and breast tissue changed. My chest is now female trait. This is a BIOLOGICAL change. The point is, it is the SAME CELLS AS BEFORE. There is no such thing as male of female cells in the body (except a very few in the genitalia) My finger is neither male nor female. Same for my arm, etc. EVERY OTHER CELL IN THE BODY is the result of my current Biological footprint. Otherwise, HRT WOULD NOT WORK. But it DOES. One final thought: The absolutism of “biological male/female” suggests that there are definite plottable points on a graph of what is male and female. That would imply that a man with less of a beard is less of a man, a woman with smaller breasts is less of a woman, etc. etc. etc. And most of all, this means you have to IGNORE that FACT that intersex people exist. I know most conservatives will not have made it to the end of the post because there were some words with a lot of syllables, but if you did, I’m proud of you. This may be the first step in your awakening as a compassionate person. Trans women are women. Trans men are men. Intersex people exist. Hugs.”
