We argue about taxes and how much we get paid,
About riots in the streets, and how the gas game is played,
So much to complain about, and now Roe vs. Wade,
How, as a people, from what is right we have swayed.
It seems religion is on yet another crusade,
We, the people have been utterly betrayed,
From a democracy to fascism we did downgrade,
The liberties we fought for, they have decayed.
A rich man cares only that he can conduct his free trade,
While a poor person’s faults are always on parade,
If we complain we’ll have to endure their tirade,
We talk about freedom, but it is all a masquerade.
I know my words make me sound the renegade,
But I wish only to sleep without feeling so afraid.
